COMPANY picks: NY Gallery Week

(May 16, 2011) New York Gallery Week May 6-8 was a great event, and I suggest you look out for it next year if you didn't make it to this one.  It offered unique access to a wide range of special gallery-produced artistic experiences in one concentrated period of time.  Think tons of galleries doing what they always do just a little bit later, with better drinks and a group sign in the window.  Following 2010’s highly successful kick-off year, this year’s NYGW has expanded with the participation of 60 contemporary art galleries and not-for-profit spaces.  Complementing the 60 solo exhibitions were many guided gallery tours by artists, curators, and art historians; panel discussions; film screenings; performances; and, of course, some uber-special receptions.
